IMPORT PROCEDURE
If you are a private buyer and wish to import a personal vehicle direct from Japan, it could not be simpler. All you have to do is tell us what make, model, colour and specification of the vehicle you are interested in, along with your budget* for the vehicle. We will then try to get you a vehicle direct from Japan, according to your specifications and budget. Due to the fact that our vehicles are purchased from Auctions in Japan, we can show and Translate Auction sheets for you before hand. The Auction sheet also shows the exact mileage in kilometres and also what category/grade the vehicle is and whether there is any history of repair or accident damage. Once satisfied with the selection you have made, we will bid on the item, and keep you informed every step of the way until the transaction is complete.
Japanese Auto Auction Grades Explained
Below is a brief description of auction grades. Since the auction grading systems used (including the numbers and categories) differ by auction house the following should be treated as a rough guide only.
Overall condition of the vehicle: exterior and interior. The overall condition is usually graded from
S Superior to Grade 6 or higher: 6 or higher as good as new. Exterior and interior are in immaculate condition. Some cars in these grades have never been driven
5 = Excellent condition: A car that does not need any work, exterior or interior
4.5 = Very good condition, may have been repaired slightly or have a few slight scratches
4 = Good condition, but with a few scratches or minor dents
3.5 = Average condition with noticeable but not severe repairs, scratches or dents
3 = Average condition with conspicuous scratches, dents, repairs and maybe some faded/peeling paint or blemishes
0/R/RA = Repaired vehicle. A car that has had a minor or major accident that has been repaired. Please Note: Definitions of repaired, major repairs, minor repairs, etc seem to differ greatly from auction to auction, but if any repair is done by manufacturers, it is usually noted in the Auction Sheets
The interior grades usually range from A-D with A being the best:
A = Immaculate condition
B = Good condition
C = Slightly dirty, with some stains, wear and possible cigarette burns
D = Dirty and worn with noticeable stains and/or damage
Once we have received your instructions, you will then be presented with a list of vehicles that may meet your requirements.
We will then break down the full cost of a particular vehicle for you once an order has been made, notifying you of all the particulars a vehicle may require, for example SVA/ESVA tests, M.O.T, Registration, Service etc.
Once you agree with the arrangements, we require a minimum deposit of £1000 for all vehicles below £10,000 and £2000 for all vehicles over £10,000.
This is to secure a bid on the vehicle of your choice and basically eradicate anybody wanting to waste time. If we win the vehicle of your choice, we then require 75% of the overall agreed sale price of the car.
The initial deposit is subtracted from the 75% deposit. If for any reason you are unable to meet these requirements you will lose your deposit. We are a professional organisation and conduct our business in a professional manner. Once a vehicle is bought in Japan from an auction there is No going back, and we are required to make a payment to the Auction. If however we are unable to purchase a vehicle you will be given a full refund of the initial deposit.
Any extras you may desire are available, such as CAT 1/CAT 2 alarm systems, Tracker Systems, a host of audio equipment, Satellite Navigation Systems, in addition to in-car TV Screens.
All of the above can be fully fitted by our professional engineers.
